Special Services

The St. Elizabeth R-IV School district assures that they will provide a free, appropriate public education to all eligible children with disabilities between the ages of 3 and 21 under their jurisdiction.  Disabilities include autism, deaf/blindness, emotional disturbances, hearing impairments, other health impairments, specific learning disabilities, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairments/blindness and young child with a developmental delay.  The school district also assures that they will provide information and referral services  necessary to assist the State in the implementation of early intervention services for infants and toddlers eligible for Missouri First Steps program.

Special Education Referrals

If you would like to make a referral for an evaluation of your child (beginning at age three) for special education consideration, please contact Stacie Wieberg, Special Services Coordinator by email (stacie@ste.k12.mo.us) or at (573) 493-2246 ext. 1500

Referral Timeline

These timelines are set by the federal regulations under IDEA and by the state of Missouri and local compliance plans.

  • School District Staff Receives Parent Referral for an Evaluation

  • 30 days from date of referral = collection of existing data completed and an evaluation plan is developed. Obtain parental consent for an evaluation if necessary

  • 60 days from date consent for an evaluation is signed = testing is completed and an evaluation meeting is held to inform parents of the results

  • 30 days after the date of evaluation meeting is held an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed and put into place (following parent consent for initial placement) if necessary
