Hornet

February 23, 2024

Dear Hornet Family,

It is with great sadness that I must tell you that our beloved principal, Mrs. Alicia Burrows, has resigned from her position effective February 29, 2024.

As all of you know, Mrs. Burrows husband, Trevor, has been battling a long illness.   Mrs. Burrows has decided to spend more time with her husband and children.   Below is the letter that she sent to our staff.

Good evening, everyone,

I have missed all of you very much and that is why it has been so difficult to type and send this email.  Trevor is making progress, gaining strength, and doing better.   We still have a very, very long road ahead of us.  The progress that he has made since I’ve been with him has simply been amazing.  I have to try my best to get my husband and my kid’s dad back to the best he can be.  I believe that I have to be with him 24/7 to give him the care that he needs to accomplish that.

With that being said, I have decided to resign from my job for the remainder of this year and next year.

This was such an incredibly difficult decision.  I cry about it every time I think about it, I’m crying now as I am typing this.  I love you guys, I love the kids, I love the school, I love the communities.  I just can’t do it all and it breaks my heart.  I do know that St. Elizabeth is such a special place and that it deserves to have a full-time principal who can give 110% dedication to it.   I’m devastated and so sorry that it won’t be me anymore.

Once a Hornet, Always a Hornet💛🖤

I believe Mrs. Burrows said it best, “Once a Hornet, Always a Hornet!”  Please join me and our school family in continuing to pray for a speedy recovery.  She and her family will always be a part of ours.

As the end of the current school year comes to a close, the district will immediately begin the process of searching for the highest quality candidate to replace Mrs. Burrows beginning the 2024-2025 school year.   All day-to-day operations of the school, students, and staff will continue to be supervised by myself.  If you have any concerns or questions, please contact me by phone or email.

Respectfully,

Doug Kempker, Superintendent

St. Elizabeth R-IV School
